Sony is easily compared to apple, youre buying the name, trendiness, and just the experince

right now off the top of my head i can think of about 3-4 laptops in that price range or below, like 300 dollars below, that would yeild a much better, longer lasting, better preforming laptop

asus G1
sagar NP2090
msi gx600

i believe MSI makes their own chasis since they also make video cards/mobo's/cases ect like Asus

ive never personaly owned a MSI laptop but i have always herd great/good things about them

wow the msi comes with a 250gig hard drive, not bad!

not really, right now youre making more than sony, they are in a umm iirc, 500 million dollar loss projected for the next 4-ish months

they are costly for what you get, 1600 dollars for a 8400gt vid card? should be more like 1100 or so

plus the whole battery scare, thats still being talked about in the local best buys and CC and staples ect

I have this notebook and it has been defective since it was taken out of the box. I can't get Vista Business OS reinstalled w/the power supply plugged in and if i do manage to get an OS installed it crashes all by it self, w/the power supply plugged in and I am get all sorts of hardware errors.

I requested a refund and cannot even get that. Sony Customer Service is the worst I have ever dealt with. The only difference in my specs is I have a HHD.

I was wondering how your SONY VGN-FZ290 CTO was doing or even if you ended up getting one? Been looking for reviews on this particular system and have not had much luck. Wanted to know what everyone thinks of this model.

For now, guess I am stuck with this Lemon, while I am on the warpath in correspondence w/the President of Sony Corporate America and their National Customer Relations Department, as well as Sony Style where it was ordered from.

Wow, consider yourself very lucky!

I still cannot get a refund and after contacting the Presiddent of Sony Corporation of America and Customer Service with a 4 page letter..it only got shipped off for repair today..not for a new replacement and a refund was out of the question as we argued.

Plus, the CS guy was as much of a jerk as the rest of the support folks at SonyStyle.

Glad to hear you went with a Dell. Should a been my choice as well..anything but Sony after all this...
