NV Go5650 to ATI 9600Pro Turbo worth it?

I have a chance to buy a 9600Pro Turbo for $180. Is this worth the upgrade for my 8600? No, I don't want a new system but I do like upgrading my 8600.

It is an enormous difference in performance. Go for it.

Actually I thought about it alot and decided not to get it. I don't game on my laptop regardless. 3 years ago I would have bought it right away. I have my desktop for gaming, which I rarely do anymore. I am all about photo editing anymore. I am probably going to treat my 8600 to a nice new WUXGA display. My WSXGA works great but i always want more screen real-estate. Thanks for looking.

Good decision. In fact there is not a huge difference in performance, I have owned both in the past. Yes, the 9600PT is better, no doubt about that, but it is nowhere near $180 better. Silly to upgrade if you don't game on your laptop!

I looked at some reviews and in some games like Q3 the 5650 outperformed. Lets face it, even if it was walls balls faster it still would not be able to handle todays graphical beasts known as games.
