XPS M1210 - Hardware Maltifunction

hi, when i start up my m1210, there is no picture of the bios, if doesnt show anything, it only black and then when i wait for a couple of minutes, it shows text like this:

** Hardware Maltifunction
Call your hardware vendor for support
IMIL Parity Check/Memory Parity Error
** The system has halted ***

Does anyone know what is this problem? I need to know what is this problem.. Sorry for my bad english, thanks in advanced..

try pulling the memory, check each stick first

Yup! Memory. If you're lucky, it's only unseated... but my guess is that it's gone bad. If you have two modules in there, get one out and then try with only one... you'll know which one is deffective.

so that means if one of my memory is defective, i have to replace it with a new one? how much its gonna cost for 1GB memory for XPS M1210? does any body knows? thanks in advanced,

you can get a 2gb module for 60.00 at frys
