Ive always been a Creative Zen man myself, wouldnt mess with Apple products for many reasons.

Didnt mess with a Zune eaither because my first thought is "its microsoft so it prolly has a proprietary program to it"

So im curious, the Zune 2.0 thats coming out or is already out, what are the advantages over the Creative Zen line and Apple Ipod video line?

the Zune does use its own software, like the iPod. originally it was built on top of Windows Media Player, but the new software for the 2.0's has been rebuilt from scratch. the Zune software's store is a large library of DRM-free MP3s, which is nice. it has radio (which I dont think any iPod does)... there's wireless syncing, so you dont have to connect it to sync up. video-wise, it supports WMV, MPEG-4, h.264 video, and allows for easy syncing of DVR-MS as well, so recorded TV from Media Center is easy to add onto there

one of the nice things is Microsoft is dedicated to the product, and that's become apparent with all the new features added to the Zune 2.0 being backported into firmware for the original Zune's.

I like my Zune, I owned a Sansa before I bought my Zune. the software is pretty simple to work with, actaully,

I like the screen on the Zune compared to the Classic iPods screens. (Not iPod Touch). My next player may very well be a Zune. As long as I can get it to play nice with Linux.

Good, Amarok kicks major ass. Just plug your iPod in and go to town no problems what so ever, that and I over all just like it the best out of the audio players I have used.

well you can download the zune software from zune.net and look through the marketplace catalog without owning a zune. they boast a 3M+ catalog of the DRM-free stuff; i havent looked for much in it but i havent not found anything in it so far

AVI's just a container... i havent had much time to play with the new Zune software, honestly, because ive been working on reading a book at work (where I usually bring my Zune, but I havent wanted the distraction). the previous Zune software tho wouldn't let you drag in the contianer formats without a registry tweak (maybe renaming them, i dunno), i dunno about the new one... but, when it comes down to it, the previous software will automatically transcode anything it has a DirectShow filter for that the zune software doesnt natively support, and i belive the same holds true with the new software

80GB is not that bad, though I was hoping that they would have the 160gig like the iPod.
