I've got a Sony Vaio FE890 which I bought with Vista pre-installed. As far as I recall, peripherals worked fine when I plugged them in. However, starting a few weeks after I got the computer, Vista would ask me to search for drivers for everything from flash drives to mice to printers. I found that if I select "browse for driver location" after my computer searches automatically for drivers, I could type in C:/Windows/System32 and it would finally find the correct drivers. It seems as if Vista forgot where the legacy drivers are stored. Are there any known simple solutions to this, or do I have to do a fresh install of Vista? Also, I have no System Restore points before the time when the problems started occurring (unless System Restore isn't showing all of the points).
