HP DV6000 keyboard Removal

Thread Starter
My nephew spilled soda on my keyboard. I took it into Best Buy to replace the keyboard, they want to charge me 150-200 bucks to replace & install. I have looked online and found that the keyboard is only $40 bucks, doed anyone know how to remove the keyboard on this HP? Thanks

you WILL have to remove the power button board and the screws for that are silver ones in the battery compartment. once you get those off remove the power button panel and then the keyboard will come right off

To remove the 4th screw: Turn the laptop over and open the memory access compartment (large center door). Inside the memory access compartment, there is a hole in the plastic just to the left of the memory module closest to the battery. The 4th screw is beneath that hole. See the itty bitty picture of a keyboard embedded in the plastic?

I appreciate your post. I'm dealing with the same problem (only milk instead of soda). I've been wracking my brain over why I couldn't remove the keyboard, but didn't know there was a 4th screw! Its been months since your post so you've probably already resolved yours, but perhaps this will help the next person...

indeed, we all appreciate good iinformative input - regardless how late a response, or a revival of an old thread - when it is being shared. Mucho thanks

cheers ...
