Need help deciding on outlet purchase

Hello,
Trying to buy a xmas gift for my mother whos 8 year old lappy gave it up just a couple of weeks ago.
This is what i'm currently looking at:

I'm not sure about the 1.4 ghz dual core, but she wont be running anything too intensive, so it seems adequate. Please let me know what you guys think and what kind of warranty i should look at getting.

looks great for a gift... do you know anything about her old unit? obviously everything will be much much better with this one...

I'd consider installing XP before giving it to her unless you have experience with troubleshooting vista. I know my mom calls me everytime she gets ANY errors, lol

as for the warranty... I know some will say otherwise, but I got the 4 year with completecare when I got my last unit. Sure enough almost 3 years later I ended up needing a full replacement and have a vostro 1500 on the way. a few months before that a 'cat' spilled a huge glass of water on it which required a complete motherboard replacement... all of this was free and quick from dell.
