Data Execution Prevention

I've searched all over the internet for the answer to this question but I haven't found anything that has worked yet. About a month ago, after a normal re-start of my laptop (Dell Inspiron B130--Windows XP), a box appeared titled "Data Execution Prevention-Microsoft Windows" with the following text: "To help protect your computer, Windows has closed this program. Name: Windows Logon UI Publisher: Microsoft Corporation" When I hit 'close message', it goes away and then comes back up. Nothing is working to get it to go away. Any suggestions?

did you at one point play with performance setting ? go to "My Computer" properties > advance > under performance, click setting

new windows screen pop up, go to Data Execution Prevention. "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only" should be the one select. reboot the system see it that go away

im guessing it's a virus like xccess21 has stated. Try and downloading a free trial of an antivirus and run a full computer scan. If that doesn't work, try searching for a regedit key to disable those notifications. IF all else fails, then reformat the hard drive.
