IBM iseries and ubuntu

Thread Starter
I have an i1300 serious thinkpad (don't laugh, someone just gave it to me). Anyway, I was told the flexbunto is made for systems without much memory and power.

When I go to install it, I am told something about not having a bios with a date in it and it just sits there. Any thoughts on why this is happening? thanks

CMOS battery is more then likely dead.

I might add that I have XP installed and it works fine with that system.

Not the CMOS battery then. What kernel is fluxbox? if it is a newer Kernel i686 it might not work. Then again I am a n00b so I am just guessing. Seablade, DocLouis, or ABF well better be able to help.

Well I would need to know some details.

What exactly is the error message?

When exactly does it happen in the bootup process? Do you see Lilo or Grub before it happens? Is there any text preceeding it?

Its hard to guess on what we know at the moment.
