I'm really having a hard time finding any drivers for my XP professional "downgrade." My usb ports aren't working, ethernet, wifi, screen dimmer isn't working, i think I need a sound and video driver as well.
I don't have too much experience with this kinda thing, if someone can write a set by step or link the drivers i need i would really appreciate it , please help

after installing the XP service pack 2, the USB ports should be fixed. you should be able to find the sound driver from www.realtek.com.tw.

i am still having trouble finding the other drivers. can someone please post them?

I bought the same $229 deal and now I'm screwed. I can't find drivers for anything. The only one I found that works is the synaptics touchpad driver. If anyone out there has these drivers, it would be really nice to share them with the noobs. Please HELP!!!!!

The Toshiba software modem on the recovery CD works on XP.
The Intel chipset software installation utility from http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Prod...?ProductID=816
take care of the sm bus controller.

now the only drivers i need is the "Mass Storage Controller" and the "Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter".

I'm no able to make updates on the computer because I have no connection to the internet. Wizard is not able to set it up on its own. The recovery cd cover some problems, but the majority of it is made for vista (stupid ), like in my original post, usb, sound card, video card, wi-fi, and ethnet. need drivers to work with full function with xp.

you are going to have to download xp service pack 2 from another computer, burn it to a CD, and then install it using the CD. after that the usb should be working again.

download the Intel chipset software installation utility (the 2nd driver from the link above)

Here is the driver for the ethernet from www.realtek.com.tw:
ftp://202.65.194.212/cn/nic/PCIE_Ins...1.13)_1116.zip

Here is the driver for sound from www.realtek.com.tw:
ftp://202.65.194.212/pc/audio/WDM_R182.exe

with the ethernet driver installed you should be able to connect to the internet now. Let "Windows Update" search the other drivers when using "Add Hardware" from Control Panel. That should take care of the Mass Storage Controller (TI FlashMedia) and the WiFi.

Found the Solution!

BUMP!

Courtesy of 11secrex1161, here are the 3 drivers needed. (anything else can be uploaded via updates)

1. 802ABG_Atheros_v5_1_1_9 is the wireless driver and is a zip file so have to extracthttp://www.acerpanam.com/synapse/forms/AcerDrivers/Aspire%205100.pdf?CFID=1672773&CFTOKEN=26437575

EDIT: Install #1 first then do you windows updates (if you don't have at least XP part 2), then the next two steps will work.

2. WDM_R182 is the sound driver and is an executable file
http://www.opendrivers.com/driver/240340/realtek-hd-audio-codecs-driver-1.82-windows-2000-xp(x32-x64)-2003(x32-x64)-free-download.html

3. win2k_xp14311 is the graphics chip set driver and is an executable file
http://tastycomputers.com/support/do...ph_drivers.htm

Let window update run...

Then enjoy your new computer

ok, I'm up and running now. I have most things available. i'm only missing the touchpad driver. my touch pad works, but it doesn't have all functions like the wheel. i also don't have the modem, but who cares, nobody uses modems. if anyone needs these drivers, i can email them all together or share them on messenger, just send me a pm if you need them. thanks to all that have helped out.
