A215-S4757 Touchpad issue after conversion to XP

Thread Starter
I have A215-S4757 Toshiba laptop preloaded with Windows vista. I removed vista and installed Windows XP and installed all the drivers found from this forum and everything is working fine, except my Touchpad. I am not sure what is the right driver to use... when I check the Toshiba Support site for this laptop, Toshiba uses Synaptics TouchPad drivers on Vista. Since I converted to XP, most of the threads under this forum tells to use ALPS Touchpad drivers. I used the Synaptics Touchpad driver for Vista found in Toshiba site and installed on my XP downgraded laptop. It did not throw up any error but no use. It did not add any scrolling feature or any additional feature other than just use the touchpad to single click and double click. I uninstalled the Synaptics driver and installed ALPS driver found in this forum and still the same issue. No additional functionality change. Now the real problem aside without the scrolling feature is... my mouse does not work smoothly.. i.e., it gets struck like somthing if you move on a grid... and every corner of the grid.. it stops kind of movement. I also attached an external mouse... and still the same problem Don't know what might be the issue.

Help towards this will be highly appreciated.

Thanks.

you need to uinstall "toshiba hotkey utility" that's causing the lag in cursor.

as for why the touchpad doesn't work, i'm still trying to figure itout...

Having the same issue with the touchpad not working at all. I installed the ALPS Touchpad drivers for XP and the little utility to no avail. I cant find the ALPS drivers that you are all talking about. Where can I find those to at least try them out....
