I am planning on buying MBP tomorrow at Apple Store. I will certainly ask this before I buy.

It only affects Seagate drives, and only those with the 7.01 revision. My friend's old, first gen MBP has this drive, no failures yet (knock on wood) but I would imagine that Apple has since gotten those drives out of their supply chain, just based on using them up.
