I always come up with alot of questions to ask when I am repairing laptops which I do for a hobby and some extra cash does anyone know if there is another forum that is just about repairing laptops. Anyways I will tell you the question I came up with on yesterday. I had got a vaio PCG-5B1L (VGN-B100) and when I first tried to power it on nothing had happened. I tested for power from the dc jack on the motherboard and I accidentally touched the positive and negative and it made a spark. I tested it with out crossing them and there was power so I figured I was out of luck. I unplugged the power and was going to give up on it and just start looking for a working motherboard for it on ebay. While looking it over I hit the power button for fun and
it started up on a charge that was left in the battery! So a non working laptop was resurrected from the dead by a spark. Why the heck would that happen. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I was considering trying it on a vaio vgn-s360 that I have which turns on and everything works but shows no video on the lcd or external monitor.
