NBF MobileForce FAQ

Here's a list of commonly asked questions about/for the MobileForce Drivers:

Q - What is "MobileForce" and how do these drivers differ from other modified drivers out there (i.e. LaptopVideo2Go or NVIDIA Drivers)?

A - MobileForce drivers are specifically modified to support the full range of MOBILE GPUs from NVIDIA (or with the Vista drivers, GeForce FX Go cards and upward). They are also modified with enhanced tweaks to the driver INF that have been developed over MobileForce's 2-year existence for the best balance of visual quality, performance, and "smoothness". These extra tweaks are ONLY found in MobileForce drivers.

Q - What sorts of tweaks are in the MobileForce drivers?

A -If we told you, we'd have to kill you. In actuality, it would take hours to go over all of the tweaks. The MobileForce "TweakSet" was developed over the past 2 years by simple trial-and-error. Each of the 30+ tweaks serves a purpose, from enhancing visual quality (color vibrancy and sharpness) to performance, to enabling "hidden" NVIDIA Control Panel features, and everything in between. It goes without saying that there have been many hours of work put into developing these tweaks.

Q - What are the "VS" , "Se7en" and "XP" versions of MobileForce, and what's the difference?

A -Quite simply put, MobileForce XP is for Windows XP, and MobileForce VS is for Windows Vista. A newer version is MobileForce Se7en. This version is for Windows Vista and Windows 7. Since the introduction of MobileForce Se7en I have DISCONTINUED MobileForce VS. Nonetheless, I'll keep older MobileForce VS drivers available. MobileForce XP drivers CANNOT be used on Windows Vista or Windows 7, and MobileForce VS and Se7en drivers CANNOT be used on Windows XP.

Q - What kinds of benefits will I find when running MobileForce drivers over manufacturer "stock" drivers, NVIDIA "stock" drivers, or LaptopVideo2Go's drivers?

A - The results you will see depends on YOU and only YOU. As with any driver out there, there is no best driver for everyone. Many people report back more vibrant colors, sharper onscreen images, and smoother gameplay when using the MobileForce drivers over "stock" drivers, albeit *SOMETIMES* at a loss of a few FPS (frames-per-second). Again, your results may vary.

Q - When is the MobileForce version of (INSERT DRIVER VERSION HERE) driver going to be released?

A - As soon as it's done. Many drivers are requested, but with the move away from Tweaks R Us (now known as TweakForce), I changed my goal from providing tweaked versions of most or all new drivers released to only modifying those that are deemed to be worthwhile. More often than not, if a driver is released and is specifically optimized for one game, it won't be released as a MobileForce driver. There are rare occasions that a driver is supposedly optimized for one game, but makes the majority of games run better. In that case, those drivers may be modified and released as a MobileForce Driver. I would like to point out that between myself and the MobileForce BetaCircle, we test close to every driver that's delivered on the internet. If it's worthy, it'll likely be released as a MobileForce driver.

Q - Does MobileForce support NVIDIA SLI in notebooks?

A - With the newest releases, it should. NVIDIA has finally introduced SLI support into their drivers, and they should work fine on SLI laptops. However, I still have very little experience with laptop SLI, and am always on the lookout for potential testers with SLI-enabled laptops. If you'd like to lend a hand, please say so.

Q - What driver is best for me with the following configuration: ?

A -The "Best" Driver for your laptop can only be determined by YOU, in the games YOU play, and the settings YOU use. The only advice that I or any other person can give is what they experienced with any given driver. The best action for you to determine the best driver for you is to do a little bit of research, and do some testing of different drivers on your own. As stated above, there is no "Holy Grail Driver".

Q - I'm interested in becoming a Beta Tester for MobileForce, how do I go about doing that?

A -I'm always looking for active, qualified Beta Testers to test out new driver releases before the public gets their hands on them. If you've got some interest in doing some good, quality testing, drop a line in the NBF MobileForce Beta Testers (BetaCircle) Application Thread. If you're what I'm looking for, I'll get you set up with what you need.
