XPS Port Replicator / Docking Station

Thread Starter
Hi there

I just called Dell and they said that the only docking station available for the XPS is the USB port replicator...in this there is no Video output and only 10Mb ethernet, is there a different port replicator/docking station that will work with the XPS that has video connections and 100Mb ether?

I cannot imagine a company releasing a laptop without a corresponding APR/DS.

a lot of companies do not. Perhaps in the near future dell will release one no need to give up so early now and jump to conclusions

Based on the design of this system, I cannot see how Dell would be able to accomdate any type of docking station/APR. The system has no connector port like laptops that do have accompanying DS/APR's... perhaps they'll do a USB device, but as they stated, it won't be able to support video...

Why would/do you need a DS/APR with this particular system... other than have it to have any external devices always plugged in to make it easier to quickly connection/disconnect, they really serve no other functional purpose... the way its designed, its more of a desktop replacement (ie: mainly a stationary machine), rather than a traditional, on the go mobile machine...
