Need Help, Dual Boot XP Vista Challenge

Here is my issue and I don't know how to do this.

- I currently have a Dell Inspiron 9300 with XP Media Center.
- I just bought a new Dell Inspiron 1720 with Vista Premium
- I want to move the 9300's partition to my new 1720 and keeping Vista Premium without reinstalling it.
- Pretty much having dual boot but just moving my partition from my old laptop to the new one without having to delete the new laptop's OS and partition.
- Fact is, I know that I have to make a new partition on the new laptop so I have room for the old laptop's partion.

Question:

How do I go about doing this and also to have the dual boot screen selector? I have Acronis Disk Director. Will this help?

Thanks for all of your help guys!

Hi Geng,

You can try to look at this page and see:

I have tried this method, and it works ok for me with a single hard drive. Hope this will work for you also.

P.S. I am not responsible for lost data if you tried this out. Please back up data before you try. For me I had a fresh dual boot.

I'm not reinstalling anything. I'm just trying to move an existing partition with xp from the old drive to a new drive with vista installed already.

can this be done?

It can be done and using acronus which happens to be prefered, I used a free program to partition the new hard drive then cloned my oem xp on one half and vista on the other half. The only problem I see is having the old program ok on the new machine with big brother mashmesoft.
