Dell DraftN cards few questions

I am going to pickup one of the mini cards shortly. I am just doing a little research as to what one to get. Just figure I would pick a few brains and see get some info on the products?

First question is it worth it to go with the 1500draftN mini over the 1505mini due to driver maturity?

Secondly, is there another alternative for use in XP? Example the atheros cards? Also have the blue screens and errors with the atheros cards been fixed in driver updates?

There is a huge thread that will probably answer you questions a couple of pages further down.
Do quick search for atheros broadcom

1505 = 1500 Rev01 they are the same just a different name for a new laptop series.
If you want steady as she goes then the Dell WLAN 150x is the way to go.

If you want raw speed and possible issues then the Atheros based chipset are for you.

I read the entire thread on the atheros card about a week ago. I was just wondering if there was any new insights or findings on the atheros cards.

I decided to puckup the intel card. and ordered the third antenae wire to go along with it. The only thing I noticed about the intel software with my 3945abg card was that the intel software seemed to lie about the signal strength. It was always saying there was full strength and the interface in XP would say it was less then full.

Either way I figure the new draftN card should still perform decently and playing around with the MIMO feature could prove interesting.

I hope you realise that the i4965 WLAN card ONLY works @ 11n sppeds in 11a mode.
You will get a very maximum of 144Mbps (more likely 130Mbps) from 11g routers.

11a capable routers are only just now becoming popular as 11g gets congested and channel bonding means even more caongestion (2 channels)

Broadcom and Artheros work in @ 11n speeds with both 11a and 11g.

Yep, do a search on 1505 and 1500 wireless.

I have the 1500 in my E1705, and the 1505 in my GF's E1520. I've noticed the connections to the router (802.11g and a different 802.11n at times) is much quicker with the 1505 then the 1500.

Dell 150x WiFi cards = Broadcom based with dual radials
My Linksys WRT54G (running WRT-DD) = Broadcom based

Can't say anything about the Atheros.
