Ok heres the situation:
You have $10,000 to buy 1 computer... (and you can't spend it on anything else... hehe)
Where would it come from?
What would it have?
How much would it cost?

Geez, you can get Optiron-based Sun PCs for much less than that. Model number is Sun Fire V20z.

but do they have $5000 solid-state harddrives?

I've dealt with FC-AL RAIDs that are nearly on par with Solid State disks, at one-third the cost. Individual FC-AL disks are not much slower. And SCSI disks are fast enough for a gaming rig anyway - check the info at www.radified.com.

The Sun above uses 10K Ultra-320 SCSI disks. They're pretty fast.

Of course, I've also seen an FC-AL SSD (we're currently testing one). The cap appears to be at 1 Gig/minute sustained read/write for an SSD, this product has not made much difference. Probably hitting PCI bus limitations.
