Dv2000t Dim Screen issue

I have a screen problem, I think. Well I know that I have a screen issue but I don't know what caused it. At first I was thinking that it was the inverter because the screen suddenly went out when I was working on it. I can still see the faint log in screens etc. and it works if you hook it up to an external monitor. In focusing on the screen I forgot to notice that the computer no longer recognizes when it is closed and continues to stay on. Prior to the screen going going dim, if you closed the lid it would go into sleep mode. Is it possible that I lost a connection inside and thinks that it is closed all the time so it does it supply power or light up?. I sent it in for repair and Hp sent it back saying that they tightened screws on the motherboard I believe. It worked for less than a week before the same problem started. So the things that I think might be wrong are the inverter could be out, maybe the lcd bulb, or the lid connections. Any ideas in resolving these issues?

looked like that hp did not correct the issue, i would nail them first before taking ur system apart. And personally, it did sound like an inverter going south

cheers ...

I have dealt with this issue before as a laptop repair specialist. This is a motherboard issue. HP will replace the inverter and It will work for a while then die again. Keep sending it to HP under warranty.

i have seen plenty of these come in for service with this issue. most of the time its the lid switch just jammed. there were a couple where the inverter actually failed but its the lid switch...
