Found this in the net - Vista SP1 vs XP SP3

Found this on the internet, they were comparing the performance gain of SP1 in Vista against SP3 in XP.

Needless to say even I'm surprised by the gain in XP, makes me wonder why MS would improve XP this much over Vista

Yeah it does cripple Vista a tad however the SP1 for Vista is still an RC Release, while the SP3 for XP is Final, so there is still improvement for the SP1 for Vista which hopefully should make the performance cap smaller, but still a lot of people that are still using XP really have no reason to go Vista except for DX10 which also needs improvement.

With all that a side I can see Vista coming a the new XP, it just take time for the drivers to mature more and we should start seeing that in 2008 hopefully.

After using Vista for about 3 months straight now I personally can't go back to XP, though I will be on my old pc which only has 1GB of Ram and Vista does suck in that regard ( and to play/test SP3 when it releases in 2008).

Anyway enough with my Rant.

I agree, other than the performance feel, the stability and usefulness of Vista is still really good. And XP if everyone remembers was in the same boat when it was released as Vista, and over time it too became a great Os of choice.

XP SP3 is no-where near Final RTM, it's still in BETA Release, and won't be released untill 3 months after Vista's SP1 go's RTM GOLD sometime in early 2008
