After months of eagerness, AMD has launched its Phenom desktop processors and "Spider" platform for desktop PCs. The new Phenom chips feature a native quad-core design, a 65-nanometer manufacturing process, and enhanced power management technology. Two weeks after the initial launch AMD finally managed to supply us with a "Spider" system. Spider is a platform that the marketing dudes and dudettes from AMD came up with to offer you guys a complete new platform based on Radeon 3000 series cards, the new Phenom processors and the new 790 series of mainboard.

No-matter how you look at it; the current Phenom processor however will be no match to Intel's Penryn based processors. Intel is just a good step ahead and that's a massive issue for AMD, they are a step behind.

Sorry AMD fans.

Not to mention Nehalem coming up that will push AMD deeper into a hole. Really sad day actually. No competition means no rush

are there any benchmarks yet from an unbias website reviewer that shows the % diffrence?

cause quite honestly AMD wont lose money over 3-5% increase, youlll always have amd fans, and underdog fans

not only that but if they are unlocked youll keep your normal overclocking fans

amd isnt in a hurt for money, they are working on other technology that intel isnt

That's roughly what I was thinking. Once Nehalem is released, there won't be any significant technological edges that AMD has over Intel any more, which is likely to make it more difficult for them to compete, as Intel's already efficient framework is looking (if we are to believe their hype) to be even more so. AMD's led with innovations in the past and they're going to have to come up with some new ones if they're going to get back to being a serious threat to Intel's chip dominance again.

Sounds like most of you are stuck in ethusiast mode, most of the money comes in from places like Dell, HP etc. Low end chips that are cheap and reliable.

That may be because we are enthusiasts
