wireless bass ackwards???

I recently bought an Acer Extensa 4620Z on Black Friday for real cheap! I really like this computer and wanted to put XP on it so I could like it even more. Turns out, the computer rejects anything but Vista . I know that some people were sort of able to get XP on this computer, but I have tried just about everything short of a network installation (not that that's much different from an actual CD). After a few days of it just sitting there with nothing on it, I got around to using the recovery DVDs/CD that I had to ORDER from Acer. They installed just about everything as it came when i first turned it on.

The reason for the purchase of the recovery discs was not only to get it back to the "original" (not quite) state, but to try to fix this annoying little wireless problem that has arisen since i first formatted it. What's happening is the card comes on when the computer is booted as well as when Windows is installing. There is a switch that turns on a light that lets you know when it's on and to see network activity. The problem here is that it has now REVERSED. When the computer used to boot, the light would come on and i'd have to turn the wireless off since it was slightly annoying, and the light would go out. NOW, when the computer boots, the light is out, but the wireless is on. And when i turn it "ON" the light comes on and the wireless is disabled!! WTF is going on?!?!
Has anyone else had this same problem? PLEASE HELP! I am about to go get help from the GeekSquad, I am so desperate!

In my Launch Manager there is the option to turn off/on the wireless on boot.

apparently, there is no option to do that in my computer's wireless control. if there is any one who could possibly give me an image of an unmodified hard drive from an Acer Extensa 4620Z that has the wireless drivers and everything...that'd be helpful, but not sure who'd do that!

Your laptop should have the wireless switch to enable/disable on the front all the way to the right?
Can you specify which wireless drivers you have already? Or do you know?

Well, yeah, the switch is over there to the right in the front of the computer, but as I'm sure you know, it's the slider switch, not a rocker as one would have on the ASUS S6F. I have finally gotten it to act correctly when I installed XP Pro on it (after many weeks of grueling research and stress!). Now, I have some new issues with its sleep and shutdown phases. When it shuts down Windows, it will end up at that blue-backgrounded screen just before a normal computer would turn off/restart. It just freezes there and I have to hold down the power button to make it turn off. When I want it to sleep, it will get to the "Preparing to standby..." box and just sit there just like it does when it is preparing for power down. What is the matter here? Does/has anyone else have/had this problem? Is there some kind of patch for it?
