the Gateway ftp site has service ( repair) guides for several different models, not just the mx8700 series.
The link to service guides is below. The pdf file titles are somewhat confusing so view a few to see if they contain the info you need. Most are in the 100 page range.

I also have a service guide for M series but do not have a link. It is not in that ftp directory. It covers ML, MT & MX models, although it states MX.
If anyone has a need for that manual please suggest a place for uploading.
