HP Pavilion zv 6000 series CPU upgrade

Thread Starter
Hi, it's my 1st thread in the forum.

I have an HP Pavilion zv 6201 cl notebook and would like to swap the AMD 3200+ PowerNow for an AMD 4200x2 on the same socket, 939.
My notebook has a desktop socket, in other words. However, I'd like to know if I can make this change for an increase in productivity. I know that this is possible for a desktop.
Thanks in advance for any reply :-)

I have a zv6270us. I just tried to upgrade to an Athlon 64 +4000 San Diego. It did not work. All I get is a black screen. Tried it twice. I went back to my Athlon 64 +3500 New Castle, that seems to work fine. I am currently running the latest F.1C Bios, windows XP professional.

If someone knows why it's not working, please share some information on what needs to be done for the upgrade to Athlon 64 +4000 to work.

I checked with support before I upgraded to make sure the configuration would work. I may have been able to jump to a higher CPU but the cost and not knowing if it would be supported stopped that cold. I know backward compatibility works better with Intel but only to an extent.I know that doesn't help any maybe some AMD folks will be better
