change power plan automatically Vista/Acer

i tried searching but i couldnt come up with anything. is there any way with vista (or a third party software) to have my power management change automatically from one power plan to another when i go from AC to battery and vice versa on my acer laptop?

right now, as it stands, i have vista runnning the high performance power plan and plugged in. what i would like to be able to do is unplug my laptop and run on the battery and have the power plan automatically switch to power saver without me having to change it. and then have the power plan switch back high performance when i plug back in. is there anyway to do this with vista or with a third party software?

any ideas or places to start would be great. thanks in advance

Why not just tweak the settings of the high performance plan, make the battery settings the same as power saver

mb76, i dont think it works that way. in high performance the hardware and system settings are allowed to go as hard as it wants/is able. in power saver it throttles back on hardware settings and such.

via windows help:
High performance. Maximizes system performance and responsiveness. Mobile PC users may notice that their battery doesn't last as long when using this plan.

Power saver. Saves power by reducing system performance. This plan can help mobile PC users get the most

I am able to make it automatically dim and turn off display and go to sleep sooner but i cant make it render apps and what not more efficiently by simply unplugging. if i'm wrong please someone let show me how to do it.

Have you gone into the change advance settings (Control Panel>Power Options>Edit Plan Settings) this gives different options for battery and plugged in.
Personally I stick with a slightly tweaked version of Balanced, seems to give the best of both worlds
