It's so annoying that I'v e bought my MBP in september, just a little while before Leopard came out and now I can't even use bootcamp anymore. Is this really true?

If you have one of the last bootcamp betas you can use it but it's only officially supported through Leopard now.

Once you have Windows installed and running, however, the bootcamp application becomes redundant.

Well, and the fact that the BETA is expired now won't prevent me from installing Windows? It cannot be downloaded from Apple anymore? This is really stupid of them.

Thanks

Oh, and sorry for so many questions but, which was the last open beta, 1.4? Thanks!

Windows will install on a Mac without the BootCamp application. What BootCamp does is allow you to partition your drive graphically and non destructively and it burns a disk with all the necessary drivers for Windows to run on a Mac. If you have a driver disk from a previous version you can run Windows just fine but you'll have to manually partition your disk if you don't already have a partition for Windows.

I believe 1.4 was the last.

If you got your MBP in September, check to make sure you're not eligible for a free—well, you'll have to pay shipping and handling—upgrade to Leopard.
