Is the bluray worth it on a 1200 x 800 res?

so much debate!

Looks good to me

I'd wait till after christmas to order one...

In a youtube video the marketing guy for XPS said to expect new panel options and new colors. Yay colors!

It's hard to say whether SSD and Blu-Ray are worth it, because what you are really asking is whether those are worth it to YOU. We cannot answer that, because we do not know how much you value SSD, Blu-Ray, and what your financial situation is.

I will say that SSD and Blu-Ray are luxury features. If you have money to burn, then yes, get them. If you want the FASTEST hard drive you can buy, then get SSD. If you want the newest in high-def disc formats (with the possibility that Blu-Ray will become obsolete), then get Blu-Ray. Otherwise, save your cash.

Thanks.

I'm exited about it as this is my first notebook test with the new Core 2 Duo processors. On my last job, I had a Lenovo z61m with the earlier Core Duo, and it was very nice so this should be fun to play with.

Vostro 1500 arrived today from TN to MA ordered on 12/06 delivered 12/18. Not bad considering my E1705 never got here after 45 days, and I had to ebay one =)

And sorry I have seen some pretty bad posts about how poor the 8600m GT is compared to the 7900GS, I am sorry I dont see it, all three of my favorite games play just fine with it I cannot tell the diff at all good fps and everything in TF2, WOW, and World in Conflict so I am not sure what the beef appears to be. WIC actually plays better (maybe the dx10 support??)

I'm not worried about it personally. The 8600 will be more than enough for MbWife's liking.

Even though my thread got cr^pped on, my 1530 arrived yesterday and all works perfectly. What a relief that nothing was wrong.

This laptop loaded my software and did the updates faster than my dekstop!
The 2.6GHz processor and 7200rpm drive do make some difference!

Overall the 1530 remonds me alot of the 1330 and has great build quality and keyboard, just bigger and faster. I prefer the lower res screen so this is near perfect for me.

Merry Christmas to all and thanks for the help here!

Your thread got crapped on??

Congradulations, sounds like your very happy soo far

Very interested in your opinion on the heat emission of your system, especially as you have the 2.6ghz cpu, does the fan spend most of its time on etc....at your leisure of course.

Good to hear the build quality is good.
