Using Henrik's temp monitor what do you guys get?
Im using ArcticSilver3

Sager 8890 3.06 1024MB Ram

Low: 48C
High: 63C
Ambient: 22C

I tried to play call of duty and ran cpu burn-in at the same time for the high temp.

ambient 75F, high 56C under full load.

I'm adveraging around 45-47C idle, and the highest I gone up to to-date is 58C under full CPU load.

NP8890V : 3.20GHz, 1024MB, 60GB

Modifications : Podium CoolPad, Heatsink and processor lapped, Artic Silver 5 applied

Ambient : 18-20°C
Idle : 45-55°C
Load : 56-57°C

Typical results :

Measuring with Mobilemeter, my 8890 (3Ghz,) will continually cycle the fan with temps between 45-55. Under heavy gaming the temp. will stay flat lined at around 54 with all fans running. By the way, if you haven't done the fan silencing mod, it is an incredible improvement in the noise level.

Drat, its a curse, Ive never reached the averages of any benchmark nor temps yet to day in the last decade. As for this.. I had the exact same readings as before with the thermal pad. 48-48C idle...is it affected by memory or second harddrive? or Tv card?

Might also think that the termal pad replacement was errant in some way - not cleaned enought, too much goop, etc... Just a thought, as it happens.

Possible, I was careful..I only didn't lap it on my window as it is not exactly easy to replace.but you never know..the old thermal pad was similar in temps. Though I think it drops temps on idle faster...but I have no evidence to support that.

Found the results below rather telling (click on the thumbnail for the full-size graph):

The initial plot of the above graph (what appears to be a horizontal line) is under full load, with the use of the MaxFan utility. The temperature never climbs above 45°C; again, under full load (running various CPU/GPU intensive applications, as well as benchmarking applications). Under idle, it drops to 31°C. At approximately the 75% mark in the graph, the MaxFan utility was turned off, and the machine was left idle. The temperature again returned to the familiar sawtooth pattern. Quite a difference from the original temperature profile posted.

In the format from above in the initial post :

Ambient : 18-19°C
Idle : 31-32°C
Load : 44-45°C

The MaxFan utility makes quite a difference. Have been using it for a little over a month and a half with nary a problem.

Mine's about the same as migjam and ActuaryTM. Normal fan cycle between 45-54 with full load reaching aroun 56-57. I always use MaxFan now when playing games and sometimes even when doing video editing or graphics work.

I'm seeing about the same thing here too:

Idle, no maxfan: oscillating between ~45 and 59 C.
Under Load, no maxfan: 59 C.
Idle, maxfan: 38 C.
Under Load, maxfan: TBD (not run long enough, but ~ 50 C.

Have not had a good chance to stress the system with a nice game recently, hopefully sometime this weekend (start fiddling with Uru again).
