Fs/ft: Mint Xps M1330

January 19, 2008 Update

Reasoning; I had been a very happy Apple user up until they ****ed me out of something, so I switched back to Dell.. And I spent WAY more than I would have buying a macbook, for something with a lot of power that I really have no need for; and I really miss OS X.

First; the notebook. Thing is pretty loaded, $2400 retail when I bought it in September..

2.0ghz C2D
2GB DDR2
128MB nVidia 8400gs video
120GB 5400RPM HDD
DVD-RW drive
Windows Vista Home Premium
Fingerprint reader
Screen with built-in webcam (Non-LED screen)

Finish is crimson red, and it has the fingerprint reader, and webcam packages.

Laptop will come reverted to factory; with everything in its original box, though it has been EXTREMELY LIGHTLY used. The light use includes late night IM'ing, surfing, and listening to music on my bed, or the couch in my room. I think this thing has been outside of my room 6 times.

Now.. What everyone would like to know.. Price? Trades?

PRICE DROP: $1050 shipped.
Trades: MINT macbook. May also take a Pioneer Avic D3 head unit if you happen to have one + cash.. Or an Eee PC + Cash.

so why are you switching back to Apple since you said they f'ed you so badly previously?

Might also want to list more details about the notebook, etc warranty status, graphics card, type of display etc.

And just as a quick price check, about two weeks ago my roommate sold his 2month old m1330 with 10 months warranty remaining, a 1.5GHz CPU, nvidia 8400m, 2GB ram, 120GB hd, normal display in like new condition on ebay for $1,250.

So that gives you a general idea of a what a moderately optioned m1330 would go for bottom dollar on fleabay (if your 1330 has the LED display, which was a $300 option, it would make your notebook much more valuable).

Switching back to Apple because after using it for so long.. I just don't like Windows any more.

I just went to check on the Dell site.. Didn't realize that they made so many of the options that I paid a ton of money for 2 months ago standard.

Current retail is $1550 for it. $900 depreciation in 2 months.. Ouch. I'll have to rethink this..

Unfortunately, depreciation really is a pain when it comes to tech items... reminds me of a couple years back when I splurged on a M170 with the $399 7800GTX upgrade paying over $2400 and then a week later Dell made the 7800GTX upgrade standard along with a bunch of other stuff and in their close out sell sold the same config as mine for $1495 :*(.

Yeah.. I've always said never buy the latest and greatest RIGHT when it comes out because it will depreciate so rapidly.. But I was looking for a real portable notebook, and as I said before.. Apple ****ed me so I didn't get the macbook, and this was the only other one I could find that I actually liked.

Depreciation =

Looking mostly for a macbook and a couple $100, I spent too much money on the thing and I'd like to get some back.. But, given the specs of that - I doubt you expect to be paying any extra money..

Also, I've thought about it and will DRAMATICALLY drop the price. Throw me some offers.

I am however also looking for a digital SLR camera, Nikon D70/Canon Rebel XTi-ish.. Will consider these items + cash, or best yet.. Camera + Macbook, as that's what I intend to buy anyway.

And no, I won't trade for any Windows machine. Macbook/Macbook Pro, DSLR camera, and/or cash are the only things I'll be at all willing to accept.

Specs; Looks like I forgot to mention in the first post that it's got the 8400gs..

2.0ghz C2D
2GB DDR2
128MB nVidia 8400gs video
120GB 5400RPM HDD
DVD-RW drive
Windows Vista Home Premium
Fingerprint reader
Screen with built-in webcam (Non-LED screen)

Anything else you'd like to know?

The laptop came out about 3 months ago, Dell warranties all their notebooks for a year. There's 260 days or so left on the warranty.
