Raid0 - m9750

Hi,
I've got a 160GB 7200rpm HD, and I'd like to add a second one to make a Raid0 on my m9750.
A second HD will cost about 150$.
Does the price worth it ?
Anybody here has got a m9750 with a raid0 ? On xp or Vista ?
How to install the HDs on raid0 ?
Thanks

You can install a second hard drive, and use it without enabling RAID0. You can also set up a RAID0 array, but it's more complicated. Whether it's worth it to you is up to you. You'll double your hd space... You can also wait for a sale on 160G drives at Newegg.com to try to save a little more...

With RAID0, you will see read and write times drop, but for gaming the only difference will be slightly lower times for loading levels, it won't affect gameplay.

Here are two articles from AW's online knowledge base in their support section. The first is how to install a hd in the m9750, the second is how to set up a RAID array on the m9750.

How to install or replace hard drive on m9750.

Setting up RAID array on m9750.

After you get that done, you can install windows either with the respawn disc if you have one, or with the windows install disc.

Here is how to reinstall windows with respawn.

... and here is how to install windows on a RAID array with the windows recovery cd.

you won't see a difference in loading a game with raid 0. it is intended for multi-tasking. for example, you can run multiple anti-virus and anti-spyware programs, copying or moving large amounts of media from one destination to another, surfing the internet effortlessly, and be in your game or work environment all at the same time without the system choking. try all these tasks simutaneously on a single drive and it will choke.
