HP doesn't have all the XP drivers for this model posted, but they can be found.

For the dV6607NR:

Nvidia Chipset Driver.Install and reboot before other drivers:

http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_...p2k_14.10.html

Nvidia Graphics:

Drivers from dV6000Z cto series will work on your model for missing drivers.

For audio,MS UAA must be installed before Conexant drivers.Install MS UAA,reboot, install Conexant Audio and Modem drivers.
HP Quick Launch,Media Card Reader,Lightscribe software, etc are all here.(Do not use a chipset, bios or graphics)

so does the NIC work on it? if it does, then go to HP.com and let it auto-detect the unit and download the drivers from there.

if it does not work, on another computer go to HP's website and you can type in dv6607nr and should be able to get XP drivers

I tried the auto detect it doesn't work and the drivers for the unit on dv6607 doesn't work either.
I woulnd't be here if it did

I solved it this morning anyhow, download the windows update version of the conexant audio. you now have sound.
As for the modem audio high def, disable it along with the Unknown Device question mark.

To me as long as the sound works its all i care for.

I'm trying to get the audio to work for the dv6607nr as well. what were the exact steps you took?

I installed the UAA ok, but none of the conexant drivers have seemed to work for me.

I got one exclamation point on an unknown pci device left in the 'Other devices' list in the device manager which I'm assuming is the audio device because right now all I get are system beeps and Windows Media Player says my sound device is not functioning properly.

Thanks!
