Hi,
I've owned my Z71V for 3 1/2 years now and I haven't had an issue with it until now. Recently I've been hearing this loud buzzing/grinding noise coming from the top right underneath the keyboard. This briefly stops if I tap the side of my laptop with my thumb. And briefly=3-4 seconds. Now my first thought was there was debris in the CPU fan or heatsink but this isn't the issue. I opened the laptop up from the bottom and cleared away all of the dust and stuff out of the fan and heatsink (which was very minimal might I add). Then I turned on my laptop and the fan ran fine and very quiet. I'll close the bottom up and hear the same noise after about 5 minutes. I don't think its the CPU fan or the heatsink because they look very clean and when the laptop is upside down and running, the fan/heatsink are extremely quiet. I am wondering if it has anything to do with the DVD drive. Its right below the CPU fan but I can't see inside because I'd have to take the entire laptop apart. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!
