XPS1730 Dual Boot Vista/XP - Vista First

Has anyone done this? I have tried, but I run into a problem when I try to load XP with the Raid 0 array.

I shrunk the volume to make 60G of space. And then boot off the XP install CD and it runs until it does not find/reccognize the hard drive. I then tried pressing F6 to install the drivers, but it asks to put a floppy in drive A:.

Since the system does not have a floppy, I can not F6 to install the raid drivers.

Any ideas?

You'll have to use nlite to make a Slipstreamed Windows XP Install disc with the RAID drivers attached. XP setup TECHNICALLY supports USB floppy drives for RAID drivers, but only 3 very specific models (2 TEAC units and an IBM). nlite is a free utility and can be downloaded from www.nliteos.com.

If you're installing Vista first, you're going to need a 3rd party boot sector utility that'll let you install XP as the second OS.

I have a similar problem, i can run the dell diagnostics and it sees the sound card and makes 'sounds' but the driver section is unticked for the sound card.
Have you fixed your sound problem yet?

You can use the sigmatel drivers listed for the Dell Precision M6300 Notebook since they use the exact same soundboard. Head to the Dell.com support section and follow the buttons to get to the M6300 page then click XP and etc etc.
