Hi, i have a Compaq Presario C500... i was on the internet and my laptop just suddenly turned off. First couple of times i started to turn on...the power button whould just just flicker. It would also even turn on for like 15 seconds but then it would turn back off. But now it wont even turn on. I think its the battery but im not sure. Can anyone PLEASE help me?

yea dude, i'm having the same problem as you. Mine died this morning, the power light comes on and then nothing happens. I took my battery out too just to check and it does the exact same thing, i'm thinking hard drive or processor or possibly even worse, especially if the screen doesn't come on!

Did you try removing the battery, and booting up (or attempting to) on a/c?

Also, although not a be-all, end-all, you may try removing the battery/ac, and removing and re-seating the ram.

not sure if you're talking to me or the other fella. removed the ac, removed the battery, reinstalled the memory = nothing, same prob. Don't you think the screen would still come up if it were a hard drive issue? Screen would say no disk detected or something no?

Might be a bad stick of memory.
Try a different (new) stick of ram.

I`ve seen this happen a few times with notebooks.

Even if it was the RAM the system should still boot into the BIOS since this is ram-independent and then say "bad ram". It sounds like the mobo/power supply of the laptop is toast.

But the one obvious thing in my head is that your battery is dead and your charger went bad.....it's a possiblity.

No, you are very very wrong.
These notebooks will not even show bios screen without ram in it, or if it has bad ram.

I have a Compaq presario C503 and I just took the ram out.
Will not boot, will not post without ram.

Without ram the fan comes on for a spit second and the power light comes on. Nothing else happens. Just a dead black screen.

My Emachines notebook does the same thing.
My Acer notebook does the same thing. (the Acer had a dead stick of ram when i got it)

The problem is most likely bad or unseated ram.
Try a new stick of ram.

DB-Rocket is correct on this: More often then not, with a ram issue, it will not even boot so far as the bios...although based on the ram problem, it is not always so. There are after all, varying degrees of ram problems.

Oh sorry, I was speaking from my experiences with desktops where they'll pretty much boot with nothing but a psu and processor

Hi. Has anyone found a solution to this problem yet?
I too have a Presario C504eu laptop and it is not booting either.
Power light flashes on front of laptop and power button flashes for about 3 seconds after pressing it.
I have tried different ram aswell.
Could it be duff power supply not giving enough power or maybe faulty main board? Is there any way i can check both?
