1 GB memory in 7900GS?

Hey all! i've got a question i cant seem to find the answer to using the search functions. i upgraded to windows vista home premium with the upgrade kit from dell. i've got the 7900GS in my rig and went to run dxdiag to see how things were looking. to my surprise, my GS is showing to have a gig of system memory!!!! before in xp it would only show the 256mb. am i running the card wrong on this os somehow? or is there something else going on?

Its a feature of Vista, you have 256mb dedicated memory, rest is shared system memory.

Dont think its worth shit either, the video ram is tied directly to the GPU with very high bandwidth, system memory is much, much, much slower.

ok so just plan on the 256 then. i thought that it was trying to share for some reason, but wanted to make sure. thanks!
