Well since i am going to have this 8700SLI card for about another month before I get my 8800SLI I figured I would try overclocking to see what I could get in 3DMark06 so here are my results.

Yo McFly have you ever thought of going for more RAM since its so cheap now? Like 3 or 4GB?

Yeah I have. I am waiting for my income tax return. I filed on Wednesday and I am getting back $5191. I plan on get 4GB of ram for my laptop since its only like $90 on newegg for DDR2 800.

hey, do you want a gpu-z for a regular 7800 go?

Every time I see a spec of the 7900GS I see something like 8 pixel 7 vertex. Mine is 20 pixel 7 vertex. Granted it's obvious the 7900 GTX and 1750 GTX are better but still, I must be doing something right. Either that or it's incredibly common and everyone has something like these specs. lol

So what about this card? http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/7900vs7950

1750 GX2 1024MB. Would it work in an inspiron e1705 or is it limited to the 7950 GTX 512MB? They say that it's about the same size as the 7900 GTX.

the link you posted looks like it is for the desktop card and not the laptop card. you also keep typing 1750 and not 7950.

Oops, my bad. Not sure why I did that.

Even if they did have a laptop card for the X2 I remember alot of people had problems with Nvidia not giving proper video driver support for that card.

McFly when I had my dual 8700m GT´s I got 9300 in 3D Mark 06 with similiar clocks like you had, don´t remember the exact clocks though. By the way I will add my 8800m GTX´s when I get home from work currently running oveclocked to Core 625 Shaders 1550, Mem 900 running this 24/7.

Yeah i remember. I think you even had lower clocks then I did. I have yet to reformat my system, not sure if you did or not. I added my 8800M GTX already, quite a while ago actually. I have my 8800M GTX running 645 core and 950 mem, not sure what the shader is running at with those clocks as RT reads it higher then it is. GPU-Z doesnt report the right speeds unless I am in the sensors tab and it doesnt show the shader speed. Once I burn a lot of stuff off my laptop I plan to reload it and run some 3d06 benches. I hope I can break 14k.

That is nice clocks McFly on the 8800m GTX. Have you checked ATI tool so it is artifact free at those clocks? Mine is running at 625, then the shaders at that core clock is at 1550. If I raise to 630 my shader clock is 1620. So you might be running around 1680 in the shader area. Though I get artifacts in ATI tool if I ramp up my Core clock to 630 along with Mem to 950. This is why I stay with 625/900 which is artifact free in ATI tool. Could you check if you are artifact free at those clocks you have in Ati tool? Maybe ATI tool doesn´t work really well with Vista at all and I shouldn´t rely too much on ATI tool.

Do you run 24/4 with those clocks, I know the heat doesn´t increase with the higher clocks and it is not heat that limits me. I think it is voltage that limits me goning any higher at least if I should believe ATI tool.

On my 8700m GT SLI XPS I ran Vista as it came though I got rid of some Dell junk.

I dont really use ATI Tool but I can try it if you like. I leave my clocks at that setting all the time. The other day I was playing NFS:PS at those clocks for over three hours and it ran fine. I can also run 3dmark06 at those clocks all day but as soon as I up to either 650 or 955 the clocks downclock or 3dmark06 crashes and the drivers stop responding. I am also using driver 174.40 but I see 174.31 drivers are on the dell website so I am going to try those.
