Battery loses charge when laptop is off & unplugged.

Hi, I have an HP Pavilion N5445. When it is off and fully charged the batter will lose its charge down to about 50% in only a couple of day of not being used. It's turned off and not plugged in. If I take the battery out, it will hold the charge almost completely.

Any idea what is causing it to drain while it's in the laptop?

Thanks!

This is nothing usual. A battery that is still attached when the laptop is off will have a slight power drain. To prevent this, detach it

Well, that is not a new model, so unless you bought a new battery, this one has already been around awhile, yes?

Although losing 50% charge in just a couple of days is a bit much, the battery will run down when left unplugged, albeit slowly. I would be guessing that this is not exactly a new battery anyway, and would be less able to hold onto a charge...
