Thread Starter
I just ordered it and was wondering why I am hearing bad things about gaming and vista.
Should I have gone with XP Pro or something?

A good number of people have switched back to XP. It's up to you though. If you like Vista, then just stick with it. I'm used to XP and don't even want to try to mess with Vista on my 7700. My hard drives are on a RAID card and it doesn't like XP, much less Vista.

for my 7700 Vista was working good
even that i have Raid0 installed
but it consume alot of resources & generate alot of heat
so i switched back to XP till vista come more stable

I know it can be done omagian, but I didn't have the patience to sit there and fiddle with finding the correct RAID drivers and whatnot. XP is working fine for me and Vista offers no benefits IMO without a DX10 graphics card.

I'm sticking with XP until they get all the bugs worked out with Vista. Aparently they've got it working better now, but games still chug along with Vista.

You will need Vista though to take advantage of DX10. The 8700 is a DX10 card, the 7950 is not. DX10 won't work under XP.

I would probably order it with Vista were I ordering one today, then install XP once I get it at home. Then when Vista is a bit more mature, and DX10 games are out, I'd switch back.
