vgn-nr123e internal wireless card not working

Thread Starter
I was able to connect to internet wireless using the internal card. But suddenly it stopped working for no reason, no new software’s added or deleted. now when i boot the system the wireless LAN switch on the front glows green for a min trying to connect / recognize wireless but fails after that OS won't recognize the hardware. I have used USB wireless card on the same laptop and able to connect to internet without any issues. Why the SONY internal wireless card is not working now, it used to work fine before.
Anyone had similar problem, what would be the fix.
I had trend micro virus software, which was blocking some Sony software, so i removed trend micro but the problem recognizing Sony wireless card is still there.

First try this:

Look in the lower right of the task bar for an icon with two arrows on it.
Double click it and VAIO Smart Networking will pop up.
Click the box for WLAN and see if the light on the switch on the palm rest turns on.

Both the software switch and hardware switch have to be turned on.
It is kind of odd. The light turns on when the hardware switch is on. Once the software starts up (and it is turned off there), it turns it off completely. I mean you have to have the software and hardware switch both set to on.

I just have had this issue come up with my NR110E

It was working fine (I wasn't running any of the sony LAN software, so it has nothing to do with it) one day, but when I opened the lid 30 minutes ago, it's shot.

The device doesn't even show up in the device manager anymore. I've also have had problems with it all along. Sometimes it would just randomly not detect any networks for a 5 minute block when I normally pick up several..

I'm taking this crap back to Best Buy for another one if they have the exact model. The left click button has already worn out anyways. Wore in the first week..

I'm still curious about the cause of this.

****EDIT**** I spoke too soon. Go into the BIOS (hit F2 at the VAIO boot screen), load the Setup Defaults (Hit F9 and accept), SAVE changes (it's under one of the menus), and then Exit Setup. I think the key is saving changes. Either way, when I booted it mysteriously found it again.

Oh well, whatever. Do a cold shutdown before attempting.
