Why so many M1330 in the Outlet

Thread Starter
I guess the subject says it all, there are currently 540 XPS M1330 laptops in the Dell outlet. Is it just me ore does sound like a lot for a computer that has been on the market for 5 months.
Is there a problem that is forcing many back to Dell. I am interested in the M1330, but I can't afford a lemon.

Thanks, Grizzly

hit and miss so far mines been good

I think it's just that the laptop itself is in high demand, so they are selling loads and loads of them, which just means that more will come back out of the millions that leave.

Why is the 1330 so hot, if I recall it doesn't have any crazy hardware options?

1) it looks cool
2) LED display option
3) Great size for most users @ 13.3" screen

Theres no widespread problems with the M1330 now other than the P falling off which Dell happily replaces your whole screen next day for. (happened to me)Considering their service department is loads better than any other computer company out there, I don't see why not. If you get a lemon, they'll even get you replacement after replacement until you are satsfied.

Just get the damn computer already lol :P

I paid about $1300 I believe, but that was in September. Prices have dropped since then though.

Can anybody tell me about the 64gb solid state hard drive, is it something to get with the 1330, or go with the other??? Any ideas???
Thanks

The Solid state drive is a bit faster than the conventional hard drives. However, IMO the performance gain isn't worth the exorbitant price tag and the small amount of storage. However, if you're incredibly clumsy and tend to drop expensive toys, then a Solid state hard drive ensures that you'll stand VERY little chance of losing data.

I believe the 1330 is being replaced by the 1430 hence the reason for all the 1330's on the outlet.Dell is trying lower existing stock.

When is this supposed to happen? I am currently researching the M1330 to replace my I9300.

Just looking for another Dell that is more portable with longer battery life (don't game at all anymore).

Don't know. The Dell Outlet customer rep said that what's going on is that the 1330 is being discontinued in favor of a new XPS 1430. Therefore, a whole lot of what is ending up as "certified refurbished" is in effect brand new never sold not scratched or dented.Look how many have the base 1.5 gig processor and integrated graphics.

When is the 1430 going to come out? I hope they stick with their small-med-large screen setup they have now. I sure liked my 1210 and I'd hate to lose that option.

The 1330s in the outlet are a steal really. I bought a ~1800 machine for $1249 which came out to $1100 with a coupon. Can't be that. Can't wait for my machine to come either.

why are there so many? its those ebayers who bought the m1330 deal and weren't able to return their 2 & 3 year extended warranty on the EPP plan.

Mines probably in the outlet.
I ordered it when it first came out and because of a shortage of glass and other components there was a massive back log of orders I had to wait over 1month before it arrived. I was then disappointed with performance. It was good for a ultra light notebook but just not enough poke to play games properly and so I sent it back. Dell soon after came out with the 1530 so they upped me to that and I've been happy since.... Well until I saw the gamespot coverage of E3 and they showed 2 awesome laptops at the Nvidia both. 1 was a 15inch SAGER with an 8800 GTX card running Crysis at 1920x1200 on max detail. The other was using an 8800 GTS running another high end game on max. The 2nd computer was quoted to be $1300 I paid £1300 for the 1530 so a bit gutted but there's always another laptop around the corner and although the 1530 graphics card isn't the most powerful it's one of the best in 15inch laptops and the battery life, keyboard, cooling and general build quality is top draw.
