Sony VGN-FE Series Keyboard Issues

Thread Starter
Hello everyone. I've had my Vaio FE670G since June 2006. Well, last July, after the warranty expires, the D key decides to type by itself at random times. Everytime Windows boots up, I get a bunch of beeps from the D key typing by itself. I have to hit random keys to make it stop. Anyways, I figured it was the keyboard, because when I disconnected the keyboard, the issue stopped.
So, I buy a used keyboard from E-Bay. The keyboard works fine for about a month, and then the N key decides to the same thing.
2 months later, I got another keyboard on E-bay for $10. It works fine for a week, and the shift key decides to stick.
Has anyone here had the same problem, or know of any issues with the FE keyboards?

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried first reseating the cable? The OP mentioned that she/he replaced it with used keyboards. I recommend getting the replacement from distinguished part resellers.

I had some problems with my VGN-FE550G 's keyboard. First the ctrl button stoped working, and I copied the ctrl function to caps lock button. Things got good for a while, but now the number 2 button is typing itself randomly as you guys described. I have already cleaned the keyboard and used contact cleaner for the motherboard socket.

Do you guys solved the problem? I'm thinking on buying a new keyboard, but I'm afraid the problem is not on the keyboard itself.

Try with an external keyboard. If the issue is being resolved then I would recommend a new keyboard replacement
