Replace IMB T40 Motherboard

Thread Starter
I need to replace my IBM T40 motherboard. I heard this is a difficult process. Does anybody know of a guide out there that will aid me? Or a video. Or can anybody here walk me through it?

You can download the hardware maintenace manual at lenovo to help you with the process

About doing that... Since my GPU is about to come off, I'm planning on popping in a new mobo as well.

Will I encounter serious problems when trying to install a higer model motherboard in what was originally just a T40? I mean a mobo from a T42 or to be more pecific, one with a Radeon 9600 on it.

Will the cooling from the lower model be compatibile with that? If so, will it do its job well enough?

Hey, I really could use some guidence here, if a better mobo will work then I really won't mind a better GPU.

Another thing that I forgot to ask are these wierd special screws that are used in this laptop - provided I'm going to take this baby apart, I will need a new set.

Are they IBM/Lenovo specific or can I get some noname alternative for half the price ? Where should I look for them?
