bonos mornings

This a detailed guide i wrote for toshiba A200 PSAE3C "VISTA" users who painfully have had no success installing XP and/or the soundcard driver from realtek

if you are a proud Toshiba A200 owner this guide may also help you with the steps to slipstream XP and other drivers. (good luck and post if success)

I've been struggling for days trying to get the Realtek sound driver to work on the A200-TH1 that I downgraded to XP. I'M GOING CRAZY!!!

I would love to read your guide but the link doesn't seem to work. Any chance I could get it from you some other way?

Thanks!!!

I'm with you brother. I just installed XP along side Vista and a couple Linux distros. Now I need XP drivers for everything. So far I've found nothing of use.

Hi all,

SWEET SUCCESS!!! To put it simply, this works amazingly well. What an ordeal though...

First, I couldn't find the drivers. Eventually found everything at the Toshiba sites (Canadian site had everything except something for the Bluetooth that I found at the UK site).

Then my computer couldn't find the hard drive during the xp install. Searched around and found the nLite slipstream solution.

But I was stumped by the realtek audio! After 3 long days of fiddling around, installing/re-installing xp, and wondering if I had made a big mistake buying my new A200 PSAE3C-TH1 I was about to throw in the towel. Finding your step-by-step guide was like a miracle!

Thanks! Couldn't be happier with my new super-fast vista-less machine!!!

Gratefully yours,

Vic

I managed to find all the drivers I needed. It took me pretty much the whole day to do so. Most of them I got from Intel, the audio driver I got from RealTek as I recall. Only thing not working is the card reader. Don't use that anyhow. Fastest XP install I've ever had.

If you guys really wanted to be helpful for future converters and possibly to get these stickied, it would be great if you would supply the links to each individual driver. Just make a new post titled "Vista to XP drivers for Satellite
A200 PSAE3C-TH1 ". Thanks

Is there any hope for Vista? I really don't want to plunk down the money for XP so I'm waiting patiently for bug fixes and upgrades for Vista.

I dont know. I have XP2 now and its been great, however, my laptop is about 4 years old and I would like to update. I am waiting til Vista SP1 comes out this year and find out if most of the problems have been fixed before I make a move

Is Vista SP1 due out at a particular time, or are you speculating that it might come out this year?

Last heard was the fall of 2008 for Vista SP1, also XPSP3 is supposed to be out this spring

Can't find link to pdf

sorry but I can't find the link. I find it fustrating that I can't install the sound drivers from Toshiba. They have the drivers on their site for XP, but when I install it, the drivers don't detect my sound card.

I won't buy Toshiba again

^^ on some audio/sound device, you would need the High Definition Audio patch from XP itself BEFORE the driver can work. And this happens to ALL laptop brands, not just to Toshiba

cheers ...
