Would you get the m1730 with WinXP installed? Does anyone who owns the m1730 have it with WiinXP and was able to compare the performance against having Vista installed? Also, does anyone have a definitive answer if DELL is actually going to have an upgrade path to the 8800's for current m1730 owners?

I don't own one, but in the FRAPS benchmark thread one owner is seeing a consistent 10% loss in performance in Vista VS XP.

i wud get it installed with vista , if needed i can use my desktop winxp disc if needed ..vista is alot of money to buy seperate..


personally i expect them to release the 8800m april/june time...if its sooner then thats cool .. hard to find the 8700m gfx cards standalone ..even ebay is dry

I have mine configured to dual boot Vista and XP (it came with Vista). It is actually working out pretty well. As a minimum, I am getting 10% more performance out of games with XP. Some games appear to get more like 20-30%.
