Toshiba P25-S477 white screen

Hello,
My daughter has a Toshiba P25-S477 laptop. She plugged her printer into the rear usb port....smelled like something getting hot...so she unpluged it. Now her screen is just white. I have seen some of the posts here suggesting plugging in an external monitor. I did that and the monitor works. I belive that tells me that the motherboard and video card are good. I have taken the thing apart( thanks for the excellent disassembly instructions on anther post!) and don't see anything brown or smell anything burnt.

Does anyone have any ideas as to the problem??

Thank you,

Hello,

Sorry it has taken so long to reply. I have taken apart the lcd area. Everything is secure. I thought maybe the cable that attaches to the lcd and motherboard had a kink in it so I ordered one on ebay and replaced it...no change. She had a hinge broken on it, so I saw a complete top assembly on ebay and replaced that too, actually taking out the lcd and putting it in the top frame. Removed the lcd inverter in the old top and put it in the new frame..could not see anything bad. Could it be the inverter..or would it not work with a external monitor? I am grasping at straws now...maybe I should take it to a shop. Any other ideas?

Thank you,

Hello,

I have ordered a used motherboard on e-bay. I went to sparepartswarehouse.com to find the part number for the motherboard for the P25-S477 K000007530 is what they said. I got it, removed the old motherboard and hooked everything back up, and nothing. Power light lights, hard drive makes a couple of clicks, cdrom clicks a couple of times and thats it. On inspection of the old motherboard it is a K000007570. I cannot find that number at sparepartswarehouse.com. What can I do now? Any help would be appreciated.
