High resolution gaming: 2x 8800GT or 1 8800GTS G92

Thread Starter
Well im about 1 hour away from hitting the "checkout" button so ill make it short and sweet.

For 1920x1080 gaming at high settings in games like COD4, crysis etc.. what would i be best off with?

1x 8800GTS 512 G92 @ 670/1940 ($360)

or

2x 8800 GT 512 @ 600/1800 ($270 x 2 $540)

Both will be OC'd. price difference is $180. worth it?

Thanks in advance!

Don't usually head over here - sorry for the delay.

What size monitor/TV are you using? Did you buy the card/s already?

If youre playing the latest and greatest, go with the 8800GT's as so many people have traded in their GTS's for GT's. From what Ive read on previous posts, the GTS had some trouble with certain games. My roomate has an 8800GT and runs Crysis on all high settings and runs it fairly smooth. Im sure another GT in there couldn't hurt lol.

Or just wait til the 9XXX series which we should have more news on in the coming weeks.

I know i'm posting this kinda late, but you are reffering to the 8800GTS's with 320MB and 640MB, the creator of this thread is reffering to the new G92 based 8800GTS's with 512MB of ram. They are a step up from the 8800GT's.

And to the thread starter, what did you go with? I love my XFX G92 8800GTS and i got it for $348 overnighted from newegg, but 2 8800GT's in SLi will take the cake. BUT, if you went with 2 G92 8800gts's... that'd be awesome

Two 512 GT's are always better than a 512 GTS but less than two 512 GTS's. If price is a concern, one 512 GTS should be fine.
