Mobile phone themes/ringtones

most phones i've purchased have had a few choices of background or ringtones to satisfy me. i guess the big companies have realized this and removed all but their company ringtone and background. so now i'm forced to buy their ringtones for 2.99 a pop or themes which include ringtones for 4.99 a pop, no thanks. i imagine that creating ringtones and backgrounds cant be too difficult. does anyone here know how to do this or have a link to a website that can teach me how to do this?

you know, most phones have a cable you can connect to your PC and import MP3s as ringtones.

yes i was aware, i move music to my phone this way, i was thinking more like simple phone ring tones, not songs. plus i think i found a fix above, so now the other issue is making screen savers or backgrounds.

edit: i guess it would help to say i have a razr v3xx

There are various forums with tutorials about making skins and phone modding. I assume you already have Mobile Phone Tools:

You will find a lot of projects and programs there to mod and customize your phone like editing menus, changing boot screens and tones and much more. Just be careful about what you are doing as you could render your phone useless if you do a bad flash or upload!!!

I used to get my rings from www.nextpimp.com and they were pretty good for my i930 I used to have and my wife still uses it for her PPC-6700 (Sprint)
