Dell D620, no 960x600 widescreen resolution?

Hi,

We have about 40 Dell Latitude D620 14 inch widescreen notebooks at our offices with the Intel 945GM graphics chipset. The problem is, the workers complain that the native resolution makes everything too small on the screen, and have changed it all the way down to 800x600. But it puts black bars on either side of the screen.

I would prefer a resolution of 960x600 which would fill the screen, but that one is not available in the Display Properties. I've even unchecked the advanced preferences for the card to display "modes not supported...", but it's still not there. The next higher widescreen resolution is 1280x720, still makes objects way too small for our users.

I tried using a third party program, Powerstrip, but so far haven't been able to get it to add 960x600.

Has anyone had any luck with adding a lower resolution widescreen to the D620 laptop?

Thanks,
Marcel

You can always just increase the DPI of fonts and icons and leave the resolution at native. That's what Dell has done from the factory on Inspirons with high res displays.
