Alright, I don't know a whole lot about HDTVs other than that a high contrast ratio is good etc so I have a few questions if anyone can help. Basically I plan on building a new PC with a 8800GTX and want to run it off of a 1080p television and can't decide which one to buy. I don't want to spend a fortune, but I do want LCD. The Toshiba has a 4 mode contrast ratio which I don't understand at all, and the spectre has the 6000:1 so that has me leaning that direction. However I have read that not all 1080ps make good monitors and I have no idea what to look for beyond that. I will also be hooking these up to a surround sound system. I want the text to be as legible as if it were on a regular monitor. None of these seem to have DVI inputs so I would be using a DVI to HDMI conversion cable, would this hurt the quality of my picture at all? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Take a look at the Sharp 1080p Aquos (LC32D62U) it's only 32" however for gaming you aren't going to want it too insanely big or you'll have to turn your head to see dif. sides of the screen. (at least that's what I think) I personally of course have this TV and I can tell you that it is a great monitor, I play games on it all the time at 1920x1080 and I love it

The Sharp is perfect I would have gotten it but it was out of my price range at the time.

Out of those three get the Vizio, I have not heard or read a single bad review about them. They are NOT Sharp or Samsung's but they are just as good as anything else and for what you pay you're really getting the best bag for the buck with them.

As for contrast ratio's on the box or what ever the store is saying it is a worthless number. I explained it in another one of the HDTV threads. Fast and simple NO STANDARD FOR THE TEST.

Gaming on a larger 1080p LCD TV is a great experience. If you're stuck between a couple of models with similar features, pick the one with the shortest response time.

I got a great deal on mine after getting a local Best Buy and BrandSmart into a price war =) BrandSmart prevailed...
