if it's one stick, is the max ram 1024? If it takes 2 sticks, can you go up to 2048 ram?
2 sticks and yes you can go up to 2gigs...

is it dual channel ram?

why the hell would you need two gigs of ram? i only need 512 ram

And you are running off one neuron more than an amoeba. What is your point? Anyone who asks why you would want 2 gigs over 512 megs of RAM probably has no business owning an AW. You should stick to less worthy computers.

No it is not dual channel...

i won't even try to comeback that. cause once again, beavis has confused the hell out of me. im in the god damn 7th grade.

how much of a performance boost does dual channel ram give if any or is it just another "marketing" gimmick?

im not saying that, just who really uses 2 gigs worth of ram? i would take 2gigs over 512, but why spend more money to have so much room that you might not even use?

The O/S will use up all the available RAM. The more RAM, the more pre-caching is possible at the O/S level, meaning a boost in performance all around.

However, given the 32bit arch, the maximum addressible RAM is limited to 3gbs. There are ways around that, such as PAE for the W2K3 O/S. Then again, W2K3 server may not be the best for gaming purposes. ROFL!

Ok, enough geeking for one day, don't ever make me talk like that again.

so what exactly does dual channel ram do again?
It all depends on what you want to do!! for some, the 2 GB of ram is not worth it and definitely not worth the money if all you're doing is word processing, internet, and simple applications... Even hardcore gamers will not notice that big of a difference between 1 GB and 2 GB although 1GB is definitely recommended for at least a gamer... The only people who might considering getting 2 GB of Ram are the people who do digitial video editing, 3d content creation/rendering, etc... This goes the same with the EE processor's also.. please don't jumpt to quick conclusions just because of a huge price difference or "everyone else" seems to consistently say things like that.. again, for some, you really don't need it but others, it'll help a lot in the long run

Thats Jesus or whatever your name is. IMHO, 512 is palty. I would recommend 1 gig to non-Power users, 2 gigs to gamers, and 4 for video editing or heavy rendering.

you can four gigs? holy crap. the only game i play is warcraft:frozen throne. do i really need a gig?
The mobo on my home system supports 4 gigs. I built the system almost 2 years ago and put 2 gigs of PC3200 in it then (the 3.06 P4 in it was the top of the line at the time).

Dual channeling does have a slight noticable improvement as evinced by tech tv's comparision.

What does "evinced" mean?
I agree, 2 gigs isn't really that noticeable compared to 1 gig unless you're running the right applications. My friend on campus has 2 gigs of ram on his sager, and for daily purposes it's complete overkill.
btw, darthbeavis, is your avatar your picture?
